David Butterworth joined Kirkor in 2007 and is the firm’s senior conceptual designer. He graduated from the Oxford School of Architecture in 1989, and in 1991 became a registered architect in the U.K. Prior to joining Kirkor, he was a leading designer and associate at Young + Wright Architects in Toronto. He then joined Alsop Architects as senior designer and project manager on two limited design competitions: one in New Jersey facing Manhattan, the other in Abu Dhabi.
As senior designer at Kirkor, Mr. Butterworth builds on Mr. Korman’s initial designs to ensure that each one of Kirkor’s residential multi-use projects has a fresh look. His expertise lies in the ability to produce well-developed, exciting sketches early on, which immediately creates an open working dialogue with clients. Mr. Butterworth’s interest in global design trends, new technologies, evolving environmental considerations and aesthetic opportunities lend sophistication to Kirkor’s projects. He thrives in the community consultations, design review panels and design charettes necessary for large, multi-use projects and is driven by the desire that each site be given the same attention to detail and respond respectfully to its surrounding community.
