Simon Ko became partner at Kirkor in 2008. Prior to joining the firm in 2000, he was a partner at Mianta Design & Development where he oversaw the design and construction of custom homes, retail stores and restaurants. He also honed his skills in Asia as architect and development consultant in the planning of resort communities for China Vacation Resorts Development in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Mr. Ko received a Masters degree in Architecture from the University of Manitoba in 1986, where he was awarded the Dan Muir Memorial Design Prize and the Dean’s Honour List. He has been a member of the OAA since 1993.
Working closely with Clifford Korman on Kirkor’s large-scale developments, Mr. Ko executes schematic design leading into design development and Re-Zoning/SPA. He excels at facilitating open discussion among diverse players, and his great impartiality when dealing with competing views allows Kirkor to develop the best solutions for our clients. Mr. Ko is an expert at controlling the often difficult committee environment, and his strength lies in the ability to draw many great ideas into one strong, singular vision that fulfills clients needs and facilitates sustainable building practices wherever possible. |
