This narrow site presents the ideal opportunity to develop a high density mixed-use development along a major transit artery in Toronto. Multiple curves and solid bands of aluminum wrap the building to create a ship-like form that belies a prodigious 185m building containing 447 residential units. The south end was designed to step down to the subway entrance while establishing an iconic character and a landmark feature for the community. A generous amenity terrace with an ultra modern glowing trellis adorns the building and provides a panoramic view of the Toronto skyline.
Simple terraces feature the latest green roof technology and a comfortable pedestrian environment at ground level was achieved through prominent canopy lighting and careful massing of the ground floor uses. The east elevation facing the neighboring mall contains the entrance, loading and servicing while presenting an interesting elevation which downplays the massing by the terracing form and the interplay of solid and void. |
