While the neoclassic nature of City Hall provides a modern maturity to the heart of Mississauga, the nature of the masterplan is to enhance and balance the backdrop so that each tower will have its own strength and defined features. Scale, form and material integration provide the perspective in the relationship with the City and community that is being developed. It is the aggregate of these features that form the character of this building.
The master plan aims to create a context where the buildings relate to one another. There are two main elements that tie all the built or anticipated projects of the community together. The first is the central park, which embraces the heart of the master plan and is located along Princess Royal Drive, and the second is the pedestrian mews and townhouses running mid-block parallel to the Living Arts Drive and interacting with the park. The three storey townhouses frame views and give the pedestrian at street level a sense of containment while creating an identifiable place. |
